VDR - Video Disk Recorder

VDR system is versatile system for building HTPC systems. All magazines compare MCE & MythTV type of HDTV softwares, but fails to recgognize VDR based solutions and their plugins for TXT&DVB subtitles, image viewing, mp3 playing, weather, www browsing, home security etc.

Some remarks:
  • On image software versions are old (1.2.6 versus currently running 1.4.44).
  • Full featured DVB-C card features CI slot with Conax CAM and cable card.
  • VDR timers programmable via WAP browser.
  • VDR timers programmable via WWW browser.
  • NDAS network storage device.
  • MediaMVP on bedroom TV connected via ethernet to VDR
  • Three soft devices available: vdr-softdevice, vdr-xine, vdr-xineliboutput
  • Can be also used via FF MPEG decoder and SPDIF out.
